Daniel White - Baritone Saxophone

Daniel White graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music in 2013, where he studied the saxophone with Rob Buckland and Andy Scott, having graduated from the University of Manchester’s Joint Course the previous year. He has with renowned jazz artists such as Pete Long, Clare Teal and John Helliwell, as well as in classical masterclasses with John Harle, Johan van der Linden and Vincent David.

As a soloist Daniel has played in venues such as St Martin-in-the-Fields, the Royal Albert Hall and the Royal Festival Hall, and has toured in France, Germany, Canada and China. In 2011 he performed Gary Carpenter’s Sonatinas with the University of Manchester Chamber Orchestra, to critical acclaim.

Daniel also plays baritone in the Borealis Saxophone Quartet, a rich and diverse ensemble specialising in contemporary European repertoire. The quartet was awarded the prestigious RNCM Ensemble of the Year Award as well as being Park Lane Group Artists for the 2014/15 series, and some of their recent engagements include the BBC Proms and appearances at St John’s Smith Square and Kings Place in London.

Daniel is also a competent flautist, clarinettist and singer, and alongside performing and teaching he is currently completing a PhD in contemporary film music theory.
